PALEALES was founded in May 1995 by Joe Bair, the owner of Princeton Homebrew, at downtown restaurant The Alchemist and Barrister. At this first meeting officers were elected and a club name was created. The name? Homebrewers of Princeton (HOPS). This name was unfortunately not very unique and caused Homebrewers of Philadelphia some distress. The name was later dropped and the current name, PALE ALES, was introduced.
The first officers of the club were: Kent Brehm (president), Steve Rowley (VP), Dave Albert (secretary), Al Bacardo (treasurer). And the first speaker? Mark Bruford of Long Island Brewing Company.
